A stadiometer is a clinical height measuring device used to measure the height of an individual with great accuracy. Used in hospitals, clinics, schools, and gyms a stadiometer provides standardized readings of height. It is a primary measuring surface, commonly labeled with clear, sharp units in centimeters or inches. It is the measuring scale used to find an individual’s height. The individual stands against a vertical ruler with their back. Slowly lower the headpiece until it touches the head. The reading is taken from the ruler. Stadiometers are available as manual (sliding headpiece).
